"21st Century" (..in a daze)

A shot echoes as it pierces com in the air
Like a firecracker busting the dark of night
Helicopters, bullhorns, fleeing cars
To common a sight
He took a stroll to the park after dark
He felt a sting Like a dart as he lays in a daze
And red from a shot to the head
His family waits
Not sure if he's late nor his trait
A knock on the door brings news and more
No smiles they were dialed
We're here to inform
He was found in the park after dark
He didn't make it from the shot to the head
Sorry to say he's dead

A cruel experience in life we dread
